FibreSpan Signs Deal with SSE Telecoms to Lease London Metro Dark Fiber-optic Network

Private high bandwidth fiber-optic network provider, FibreSpan has signed a 10-year leasing deal with Scottish and Southern Energy Telecommunications (SSE Telecoms) to rent its metro dark fiber-optic network in London. The company reserves the right to renew the deal after 10 years.

UK telecommunications provider, SSE Telecoms owns and manages more than 7,500-km-long fiber-optic network across the country with more than 120 Points of Presence.

The deal is anticipated to assist businesses throughout London to get private point-to-point fiber-optic connectivity to safely link business collaborators, offices and offsite resources. FibreSpan officials informed that the company will incorporate the network with its assets to offer services to prominent commercial hubs of London.

The Chief Executive at FibreSpan, Robert Bicket commented that the deal would provide solutions for businesses searching for ultra-speed and cost-effective fiber-optic services. Earlier in April 2010, FibreSpan had established a joint venture, AlgoSpan, with AlgoTechnologies with an objective to provide the shortest path network connecting European and US exchanges with merchants.
