Kopin Acquires Forth Dimension Displays

Kopin. a firm specializing in developing compact display products and imaging devices, has acquired a Scotland-based company, Forth Dimension Displays (FDD).

Kopin offers heterojunction bipolar transistors, compact liquid crystal displays and Golden-i mobile computing headsets, while FDD provides ferroelectric reflective microdisplays.

The CEO and President at Kopin, Dr. John C.C. Fan stated that the acquisition offers new opportunities for the company and allows it to expand its product line. He added that high-resolution reflective microdisplay from FDD is utilized in various applications including medical imaging, 3D metrology, simulation and training and cinematography. The Time Domain Imaging (TDI) technology offers enhanced full-color and high-resolution images for high-end applications, Fan said.

FDD’s CEO, Greg Truman stated that the company is pleased to join the team of Kopin for future operations. He continued that the company is planning to offer its technical capability to new industries and product applications.
