First Solar Acquires Photovoltaic Company, RayTracker

Solar module manufacturer, First Solar has acquired a photovoltaic and tracking technology company, RayTracker. The whole team of RayTracker will partner with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) group at First Solar.

RayTracker is an operating firm of Idealab, which operates and creates technology companies. The acquisition will bring RayTracker’s expertise in high-volume production, product development, software engineering, PV system modeling, reliability engineering and solar technology innovation to First Solar.

In addition, RayTracker’s clients will be transferred to First Solar. RayTracker’s technologies include PV balance-of-system innovations, wireless infrastructure technology, PV-Platform Software Toolset and GC-Series single-axis trackers.

First Solar’s President, Bruce Sohn stated that the acquisition would enable the company to create a world powered by eco-friendly and sustainable solar electricity. Sohn added that the company is looking forward to work with RayTracker’s team.
