Soraa Displays Green and Blue Laser Diodes at 2011 CES

Semiconductor company, Soraa will exhibit new green and blue laser diodes (LDs) at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Nevada. The green lasers are suitable for use with pico projectors that have an output of over 20 lm.

Soraa’s direct emitting green lasers create images that show minimal speckle compared to traditional second harmonic generation green lasers. They deliver a continuous wave power of over 75 mW in the 520-525 nm range in multi spectral mode and single spatial mode. In addition, the green LDs can be modulated directly at ultra-fast speeds with rescued speckle for high-resolution displays. The green laser diodes complement the company’s blue 450 nm laser diodes that offer increased power and efficiency.

The LDs incorporate the InGaN semiconductor technology and provide enhancements in cost, weight, size, and performance compared to traditional solid-state or gas lasers for industrial imaging applications, therapeutics and biomedical instrumentation, defense illuminators and pointers, and consumer projection displays. In addition, the LDs are fabricated on semi-polar and non-polar GaN substrates.
