Fabless semiconductor company, Alereon and wireless card manufacturer, Spectec Computer, will unveil the new Spectec CameraJet Wireless solution at the 2011 International CES. The device offers improved connectivity and speeds in media transfer from mobile devices.
The Spectec CameraJet Wireless device includes the SDU-7500 Wi-Jet USB dongle and the SDU-7200 Wi-Jet SD card that are powered using the Alereon ECMA AL6000 Ultra Wideband (UWB) chipset. It enables fast and convenient wireless connection of digital video camcorders (DVC) and digital still cameras (DSC) with mass storage devices, digital media adapters, PCs, and HDTVs.
The Spectec solution consists of a SD host/device controller and a dual-port FLASH memory controller that enable the UWB device to transfer data wirelessly from FLASH memory. Alereon is currently sampling the Spectec CameraJet and the production is scheduled in February 2011.
The Chief Executive Officer at Alereon, Eric Broockman stated that the major limitations in the mobile world are the access and transfer of media from mobile devices. He added that the SD technology facilitates the integration of the SD host/device controller and the on-chip FLASH controller on a SD card.
