Sanan Optoelectronics to Expand MOCVD Deployment in 2011

Sources from the LED industry have stated that Sanan Optoelectronics, a LED chip manufacturer in China, will install 40 Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) devices by 2010 end and will expand the units to 100 devices in 2011.

The 100 units, when installed, will be equal to the capacity of Formosa Epitaxy, a Taiwan-based LED chip maker.

The sources added that another LED chip maker, Xiamen Changelight will enhance the number of MOCVD devices from the existing nine to 26 units. Inspur Huaguang will Optoelectronics will deploy an additional 16 MOCVD equipments to its existing 14 units.

The Chinese LED industry, which deployed 330 units in 2010, is anticipated to deploy 700 to 800 devices of MOCVD units in 2011. The increase in production is likely to allow the LED industry to be on par with Taiwan in the MOCVD production capacity. The sources commented that a China-based LED maker has ordered for approximately 400 to 500 MOCVD equipments to Aixtron.
