Electrical manufacturer, Whitehead & Associates has completed a comprehensive lighting retrofit project for a publicly traded company, Brookdale Senior Living. The project involves the lighting retrofit of 546 senior care communities of Brookdale.
The retrofit program would offer annual cost savings of $5 million in electric utility costs. The fluorescent lamps used for the program have 10 to 15 times more operating life than the incandescent lighting. The lamps offer more illumination compared to incandescent solutions and offer energy savings of about 75%.
The retrofit project was implemented in all the communities of Brookdale by utilizing the company’s in-house maintenance teams. The team retrofitted incandescent fixtures in resident rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and exit signs. In addition, the lighting retrofit included outdoor lighting and signage.
Brookdale Senior Living’s VP of Procurement, Jeff Patton stated that the objective of the lighting retrofit project was to offer a comfortable and safe environment for its residents. He added that the company was able to achieve the goal with reduction in power consumption and increase in light output.
