Cypress Semiconductor, a company specializing in programmable timing devices, has announced that ARRI (Arnold & Richter Cine Technik) has designed a CMOS image sensor into a high-tech ALEXA digital motion picture camera. ARRI is a Germany-based company and manufactures motion picture cameras.
The 35 mm ALEXA camera is suitable for wide range of motion pictures such as commercial shoots and 3D productions. The combination of the Cypress image sensor and the ALEXA delivers better performance than ARRI’s conventional CCD- and CMOS-based solutions.
The ALEXA camera provides a file-based workflow, removes long transfer processes, generates images quickly for color correction and editing, and speeds up the post-production process.
The image sensor product line is suitable for various applications such as medical x-ray and industrial imaging, high-speed line sensors, cinematography, biometrics, barcode readers and endoscopy. In addition, Cypress’ custom CMOS imager sensor was also integrated into ARRI’s digital motion picture camera, ARRIFLEX D20/D21.
