Audio and Video connectivity solutions provider, GefenPRO has introduced a new fiber optic extender that can extend any form of 3G-SDI source with superior signal quality.
The Fiber Optic Extender is a small serial digital video data transport device that extends video over a fiber-optic cable, which supports 1080p for 3G-SDI. The system is housed in a tiny enclosure.
The 3G SDI Fiber Optic Extender modifies a one-channel SMPTE-424M 3G-SDI, SMPTE-259M serial digital or SMPTE-292M HD video signals over long distances of up to 20 km by using single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cables.
The Sender unit of the GefenPRO Fiber Optic Extender collects the SDI input signal from compatible sources such as SD, 3G SDI or HD and modifies the SMPTE-292M/259M/424M SDI signals into optical information. Its Receiver unit modifies the information to an HD, SD or 3G SDI signal. This signal links to a display or BNC junction point. The 5 V locking power supply is used to power both the receiver and the sender units.
As the single-mode fiber optics cable is disconnected in ST connections, which connects the sender unit to the receiver unit, the optics extender can offer superior video signal transportation for enhanced performance. It supports resolutions including 2k, 1080p and 1920x1200.
The latch locking power connectors of the Fiber Optic Extender on both receiver and sender units eradicate possible disconnections in the field. In addition, it also features output re-clocking and automatic input equalization for improved performance.
