GAO Fiber Optics Launches 5501 Optical Variable Attenuator

Provider of fiber optical devices, GAO Fiber Optics has rolled out a new handheld optical variable attenuator for lab environments, routine maintenance and fiber link certification.

5501 handheld optical variable attenuator

The 5501 optical variable attenuator is suitable for optical communication training, optical instruments R&D, cable construction systems as well as for CATV and telecom maintenance.

The portable optical variable attenuator is useful in digital system communication instruments, including SDH and PDH and analog modulation CATV device. In addition, the device offers 0.05dB stepwise attenuation, on line attenuation and a low battery power indication. The attenuation features an attenuating wavelength range of 1260-1650 nm and a measurement range of 2.5 dB-65 Db.

The 5501 optical variable attenuator has wavelengths of 1625, 1550, 1490 and 1310 nm, and features an optical Auto-off function. The attenuator simultaneously displays relative and absolute attenuation value, selected step size and current attenuation, output power, input power and wavelength on an LCD screen. Furthermore, the device integrates the functions of optical power meter and attenuator.
