True Conducts 100 GB Ethernet Trial Using Alcatel-Lucent’s IP-MPLS System

Provider of broadband networking services, Alcatel-Lucent announced that Thailand’s telecommunication company, True, has completed a 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GE) field trial over the IP/MPLS network. The network is based on Alcatel-Lucent’s service routing technology.

The 100GE field trial sustained 100 Gbps and delivered wireless services, in addition to Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), business Ethernet, subscriber management and residential broadband networks. True utilized Alcatel-Lucent’s 5620 Service Aware Manager, 7450 Ethernet Service Switches and 7750 Service Routers to carry out the field trial. Alcatel-Lucent’s products formed the crux of True’s IP/MPLS network. True chose Alcatel-Lucent’s IP/MPLS system in February 2010 to support the network transformation.

True’s Managing Director of Network and Technology, Vichaow Rakphongphairoj stated that the 100 GB Ethernet would help the company to meet the requirements for enhanced bandwidth.

Alcatel-Lucent’s Head of Activities in Southeast Asia, Alain Biston stated that service providers are bound to equip themselves with an all-IP multiservice infrastructure because of the increasing requirement for high-bandwidth applications. He added that the company’s IP routing platform allows service providers to expand their Ethernet service offerings in an effective manner.
