Wipro’s Orio LED Streetlight Receives 2010 International Design for Asia Award

Wipro Lighting, manufacturer of lights, lighting products and power generators, has received the ‘Design for Asia Merit Recognition Award 2010’ for the Orio designer LED streetlight. Wipro is the first Indian company to receive the award, which recognizes the most influential design in Asia.

The Orio LED is suitable for lighting secondary roads for residential townships, commercial buildings, educational campuses, industrial parks, IT/ITES facilities and large software campuses. The streetlight is a next-generation luminaire that uses the benefits of LEDs.

The streetlight features a LED technology and minimizes up to 50% of power consumption. The lighting solution is available in 24, 18, and 12 W versions with high power LEDs. The Orio offers 90% recyclability, energy efficiency and durability.

Wipro’s Business Head of Commercial Lighting and Furniture Business and Vice-President, Parag Kulkarni stated that the company is pleased to receive the coveted award. He added that LED-based lighting offers huge growth potential in the market.
