Time Warner Cable announced that it has completed deploying 361,149 miles of optical fiber cable in the Southern region of California. The company has sufficient fiber-optic cable to wrap the equator by approximately 15 times.
Time Warner Cable’s business class division, over the past two years, underwent an infrastructure expansion that was worth $120 million. The infrastructure expansion enabled the company to open up cable television, Ethernet, internet and phone services to an additional 125,000 businesses in Southern California.
According to Time Warner, the fiber-optic cable network has the ability to nullify power outages in 50 ms and would generate 250 new jobs.
The fiber-optic network generated 16 new coverage rings in the South Bay, Hollywood, Downtown, West Los Angeles, Inland Empire, Orange County, San Gabriel Valley and San Fernando Valley regions.
