Ideal Industries has rolled out a new qualification tester to address the requirements of IT/network administrators, electricians, and datacom installers. The Signaltek-FO qualification tester enables users to measure the performance of both fiber-optic and copper cabling systems as per the IEEE 802.3 specifications.
The Signaltek-FO tester incorporates a number of features such as a printed pass/fail qualification report, an internal memory of 32 MB, active LAN diagnostic testing, and Gigabit Ethernet Bit Error Rate Testing (BERT). It also features a Small Form-factor Pluggable port with an inbuilt LC connector. This enables users to conveniently migrate to fiber qualifying from copper.
The Signaltek-FO switch has a dual wavelength capacity that allows users to move over from 850 to 1300 nm. The tester performs both Optical Attenuation and Bit Error Rate Testing loss measurements on the optical fiber links. It also measures the cable attenuation with a maximum dynamic range of 20 dB.
The tester can be configured to operate for several minutes or hours to stress test a link. This feature allows the device to be utilized to separate intermittent network problems, which are hard to identify. The Signaltek-FO generates a customized report that can be printed, transferred to a computer, or stored on the tester.
The device includes numerous accessories such as a training DVD, CD-ROM user manual, USB cable, 2 AC power adapters, 8 AA alkaline batteries, fiber optic accessory kit, copper cable accessory kit, carrying case, and a remote-end handset.
