Habitat for Humanity of Durham and Cree, Durham-based LED manufacturer, have announced the completion of the Habitat for Humanity house with LED bulbs and fixtures. The Habitat for Humanity house is now the world’s first Habitat house to include LED lighting.
Cree funded the development of the Habitat for Humanity house and the company’s employees aided as volunteers for the lighting project. The Habitat house is equipped with Cree’s CR6 LED downlight and other LED solutions using Cree LEDs from Top Energy Saving System (TESS) and MSi.
The new house, situated in Southwest Central Durham, is now the residence of the Rahlan-Ksor family. This is the 251st house constructed by Habitat for Humanity of Durham. Previously, Cree had signed a three-year contact to offer energy-efficient LED downlights to the entire new Habitat homes in the US.
Cree’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Chuck Swoboda stated that the company is delighted to offer energy-saving LED lighting solutions to the homes. He added that the company is also pleased to construct an economical and sustainable home for the Rahlan-Ksor family.
