Fiberutilities Group to Build Fiber-Optic Medical Network in Western Nebraska

Fiberutilities Group, a company specializing in fiber-optic network, will construct a $20M optical medical network in Western Nebraska. The Rural Nebraska Healthcare Network (RNHN) has retained Fiberutilities Group to handle the government, operational coordination, financing and planning for the fiber-optic project.

The Federal Communications Commission’s Rural Health Care Pilot Program provided the funds for the medical network project. The objective of the program is to link numerous affiliated clinics and nine primary care hospitals. The funding will be utilized to build an efficient and advanced fiber-optic medical technology network in Nebraska.

The fiber-optic project attained the final approvals via the Services Administration. The project will start in the fall of 2010 and is scheduled to be completed next year.

Fiberutilities Group’s Vice President, Kent Van Metre stated that the company excels in setting up private optical fiber networks by collaborating with community-based health care organizations and coordinating with federal agencies.

Rural Nebraska Healthcare Network’s President, Todd Sorensen remarked that Fiberutilities has provided an improved and customized approach to implement the fiber project. He added that the company is thankful to Fiberutilities in building the complex project.
