Ambarella, an image processing semiconductor company, and Samsung Electronics, a pioneer in next-generation semiconductor products, have introduced the new hybrid camera system-on-chip (SoC).
The A7 hybrid camera SoC utilizes Samsung’s ASIC design services and 45 nm low power (LP) process technology, making it suitable for HD cameras.
Ambarella utilized Samsung’s embedded SRAM blocks and silicon verified IPs and coordinated with the company’s ASIC design center to simplify the design cycle. In addition, Ambarella used Samsung’s full turn-key solutions such as packaging, test and manufacturing, to minimize production and development time.
The A7 hybrid camera SoC offers a full HD video recording of 4Mp30 or 1080p60 H.264 with high resolution. The 500 Mpixels/second capture functionality facilitates new features such as best-picture selection, high dynamic range (HDR) processing and smooth slow-motion replay. The camera SoC combines multiple exposures, 3D motion-compensated noise reduction (MCTF) and high-ISO speed to deliver enhanced still image quality under low-light conditions.
