Supplier of optical layer management systems, Glimmerglass Networks has rolled out new software for the monitoring, management, and construction of Intelligent Optical Systems. The software Release 7.0 is compatible with the Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 (SNMPv3).
The SNMPv3 is a standards-based interoperable protocol that is used for network management. In addition, the SNMPv3 offers safe access by encrypting and authenticating packets across the network. The Release 7.0 will benefit the networks that are configured on SNMP for management applications.
The Release 7.0 has the features, namely, Network Time Protocol support (NTPv4), SNMP Sets/Gets/Traps, and SNMPv3. The NTPv4 synchronizes authoritative time source and the system clock. The SNMP Sets/Gets/Traps allows consumers to maintain, operate, and provision the Intelligent Optical Systems via SNMP. The SNMPv3 offers access control, encryption, and authentication across a standardized management interface.
