TPV Develops Laser Procedures for Presbyopia

Technolas Perfect Vision (TPV) announced that it has developed a new Customlens femtosecond laser technique that can be used for performing crucial steps in cataract surgeries.

Customlens is a new laser unit to be made available on the company’s femtosecond workstation. It is the first femtosecond laser to perform both refractive and cataract surgeries with one unit. Customlens is also useful for performing Customshape therapeutic indications, Customflap LASIK flaps and Intracor presbyopia treatment.

The company has also developed a new Supracor excimer laser procedure to treat presbyopia. The Supracor excimer laser procedure, developed for the 217P excimer workstation, has a presbyopic algorithm. The aberration-optimized algorithm is used for post-LASIK, emmotropic, hyperopic and myopic applications.

The Supracor excimer laser is likely to obtain the CE mark in 2011, while the customlens will be available from 2011.
