The Switch Expands Digital Fiber Transport Services

Beers Enterprises and Verizon have signed an agreement to expand the digital metro optical fiber services. Verizon will expand and provide HD video services to the broadcast TV industry on the East Coast. The company provides fiber-optic transmission services and owns and operates The Switch, which provides fiber-based services.

Under the terms of the agreement, The Switch is further extending its digital fiber-optic transport services across Washington DC and 31 states. The company’s consumers will now be able to use metro fiber-optic services such as Standard Definition 270 Mbps SDI, HD/SDI, and HD 1.485 Gbps local optical fiber circuits in Washington, D.C., Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Rhode Island, sMassachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

The Switch provides fiber-based services in New York and offers video switching services in Toronto, London, Miami, Washington DC and Los Angeles. Cities of The Switch are linked through Beers Enterprises’ Inter-City On Demand (ICOD) transmission service. The ICOD service enables consumers to choose the uncompressed HD/SDI paths and 270 Mbps SDI from the customer-control computers.
