BAE Systems to Deliver Laser Warning Sensors for US Military Aircraft

BAE Systems, an aerospace and defense company, will offer laser warning sensor systems as part of a $17.7 million contract from Alliant Techsystems. The laser warning sensors will be used to protect the US military aircraft.

The laser detection sensors offer important warning systems during dangerous threats. Under the terms of the contract, components will be provided for the AAR-47 Missile Approach Warning System, which is a part of the US Navy road-map of system improvements and airborne protection for foreign allied fleets, US Army, Air Force and Navy.

Alliant Techsystems, a development partner and contractor, will integrate and deliver the AAR-47 Missile Approach Warning System to the military. The laser detection systems from BAE Systems offer a dependable laser threat warning such as angle-of-arrival data and threat class identification. The sensors are capable of processing and reporting simultaneous threats. The delivery of the laser warning sensors will commence in July 2011 and will conclude by November 2012.
