Westman Selects Calix ONTs to Deploy Fiber-Based Services in Brandon, Canada

Westman Communications announced that it has chosen Calix’ 725GX optical network terminals (ONTs) and the E7 Ethernet Service Access Platform (ESAP) to provide sophisticated fiber-based services for residents in Brandon, Canada.

The Calix E7-2 ESAP enables users to install the required bandwidth and have the versatility to keep pace with the increasing change. FTTH allows various ultra-high capacity broadband services such as radio frequency over glass (RFOG) video, and high-speed voice and data services. This is done by expanding a fiber-optic connection from the headend of Westman Communication to the residential subscriber premises.

Westman has announced that FTTH subscribers, who are currently located in the Oakridge Estates subdivision, will obtain sophisticated services through the gigabit passive optical network (GPON) technology.

Over 150 service providers across the Caribbean, Latin America and North America have installed the Calix E7-2 ESAP. The Calix 725GX ONTs allow MSOs to provide both sophisticated and legacy services in a fiber-based architecture. The ONTs combine GPON with the Society for Cable Technology Engineers (SCTE) RFOG standards.
