Banner Engineering, manufacturer of sensor products, has rolled out a new laser scanner that offers versatility, simplicity, and safety in one optical unit. The AG4 safety laser scanner utilizes Class 1 IR laser light pulses to locate the object’s position in the field of view and protects users by safeguarding mobile and stationary hazards in a user-designated region.
The AG4 safety laser scanner protects the irregularly-shaped regions that are not ideal for two-or three-piece light screens. It can be used to replace high-maintenance safety mats, which get damaged by harsh environments or constant operation. The AG4 laser scanner meets Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 per IEC 61508, Category 3 PLd per EN ISO 13849-1, and Type 3 per IEC 61496-1/-2 specifications. It delivers high-quality performance in a number of applications such as automated guided vehicle collision avoidance, access/perimeter guarding, and area guarding.
The AG4 has a lateral resolution of 0.36º and identifies objects in a maximum zone of 190º from its position. It offers protection field resolution of 150, 70, 50, 40, and 30 mm with maximum ranges of 6.25 m. The laser scanner allows users to swiftly swap between the field pairs, thus offering the versatility to protect the equipment and personnel in a wide range of applications.
The AG4 utilizes diffuse reflectance principle to determine the position of the object through rotational angle and range. The object's position is evaluated when the AG4 warning and protective fields are configured.
