Banner’s Q26 Series Photoelectric Sensor with Coaxial Optics Enables Clear Object Detection

Banner Engineering has launched the Q26 photoelectric sensor for detecting clear objects. This is an addition to its sensor product line.

The sensor has the ability to detect clear, opaque, translucent objects and those with mirror-like surfaces. It can provide accurate leading edge detection and can also function at short distances.

The Q26 Series photoelectric sensor is an ideal solution for high speed applications that require precise positioning. It can be used in pharmaceutical vial filling applications, LCD and flat glass manufacturing and for detection applications in bottling, canning, filling and packaging industries.

The sensor has coaxial optics that allows it to be operated from different distances. With applications having space constraints, the reflector can be mounted up to a distance of 5 mm. The Q26 Series has a cubic shape and 20 mm spacing for mounting holes, which allows rapid installation in restricted locations.

The company’s Technical Marketing Manager, Dennis Smith, stated that the Q26 Series photoelectric sensor was honed for clear object detection. It prevents false detection by rejecting light from mirror-like objects, he said.

The Q26 has a response speed of 250 µs and operates on 12-30 V DC supply. The sensor also has protection against transient voltage spikes and wrong wiring during installation. The Q26 contains a single turn potentiometer for adjusting the sensitivity of detection and a LO/DO switch for controlling the output type. It also features a health mode output for monitoring applications, and for transmitting the connection and operation status.
