OptoTest Launches Ribbon Visual Fault Locator at OFC

OptoTest has launched a new ribbon visual fault locator at the Optical Fiber Conference (OFC) held in San Diego, California in March 2010. The OP280 ribbon visual fault locator verifies the wiring of distribution boxes, hybrid cables and ribbon fiber connectors swiftly and conveniently.

OP280 Ribbon Visual Fault Locator

The OP280 is available in a standard 5 V DC or USB connector, an internal rechargeable battery and 12 kinds of high-bright red lasers. It can be utilized to locate faults at a maximum of a few hundred meters and features programmable patterns for various types of connections.

OptoTest’s Sales Director, Caroline Connolly stated that the OP280 visual fault locator enables easy and efficient testing of crossed fibers. Multi-fiber cable installers and assemblers and ribbon fiber manufacturers now have the option of verifying the fiber routing configurations easily.

OptoTest offers complete test systems for the optical fiber industry and provides various fiber-optics measurement technologies such as launch condition analysis, non-mandrel high dynamic return loss measurements, and high-channel count power meters.
