Tridonic, Intematix Announce Cross-Licensing Deal for LED Phosphor Materials

US-based LED phosphor manufacturer, Intematix, and Austria-based lighting component manufacturer, Tridonic have collaborated for silicate patents in LEDs. The new patents govern the use of the phosphors in LEDs and the usage of LED phosphor materials.

A four-company consortium of Litec, Leuchtstoffwerk Breitungen, Toyoda Gosei and Tridonic, holds the BOSE patents. Under the agreement, the patents are cross-licensed between the BOSE consortium and Intematix covering the silicate phosphor material patents for each party. Tridonic has negotiated the licensing agreement as the key stakeholder for the BOSE consortium. In addition, Intematix serves as the official provider of the BOSE phosphors.

The BOSE consortium approved Intematix with a license for the utilization of phosphors in LEDs, allowing Intematix to produce and distribute LED modules and LED packages. Consequently, Intematix will provide its consumers with easy licensing procedures to use BOSE application patents.
