OmniVision Begins Mass Production of Medical Image Sensor

Developer of digital imaging systems, OmniVision Technologies has started the mass production of the OV6930 medical image sensor. The new image sensor is suitable for various medical endoscopy applications such as urology, OB/GYN, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy.

The OmniVision OV6930 features a compact footprint of 1.8 x 1.8 mm, and aids in developing medical devices that necessitate an outer diameter of less than 2.6 mm. The image sensor’s architecture combines the OmniPixel3-HS pixel technology with the minimal power consumption feature to deliver 3300 mV/lux-sec of low-light performance.

The OV6930 1/10-inch array functions at a maximum of 60 fps in a resolution of 400 x 200 or 30 fps in HVGA resolution to offer a RAW serial output. The 1/10-inch array is capable of operating up to 30 frames per second (fps) in 400 x 400 HVGA or 60 fps in a 400 x 200 resolution, providing a RAW serial output. In addition, the low-voltage medical image sensor enables cabling at a maximum of 14 ft.
