Finisar Showcases InfiniBand FDR Active Optical Cable at SC10

Supplier of active cables, Finisar has showcased the InfiniBand FDR active optical cable at SC10 in New Orleans. SC10 is the annual conference on high-performance computing, networking, storage, and analysis. The Quadwire FDR cable offers 56 Gb/s data transmission over four traffic lanes at 14 Gb/s data rate through each lane.

The FDR active optical cables utilize the 14 Gb/s VCSEL technology to offer the next data throughput level as a flexible, lightweight and compact optical cable that can support high density deployments. In addition, Finisar demonstrated the complete portfolio of active cables, namely the C.wire for InfiniBand QDR and 100GbE, Quadwire for InfiniBand QDR and 40GbE, and Laserwire for 10GbE, at the event.

Finisar’s Director of Marketing in High-Speed Optics, Christian Urricariet stated that the InfiniBand FDR active optical cable leverages the company’s skill in optics technology to offer an appropriate solution to the meet the requirements of link distance and bandwidth. Urricariet added that the company is delighted about the demonstration of the InfiniBandb FDR solution at SC10.
