Luminus Devices Granted 50th Patent for Big-Chip LED Technology

PhlatLight LED manufacturer, Luminus Devices has received the approval for the 50th patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The company has filed intellectual property (IP) to protect big chip LED devices, systems and packages.

Luminus has also received the grant for 13 non-U.S. issued patents in Taiwan, Korea, and China, while the patents expand the protection of big-chip LEDs into these countries. Furthermore, the company grants licenses to various companies, namely Nichia, Epistar and Forepi.

The PhlatLight big-chip LEDs offer a reliable, bright light source, and are utilized in display applications by various lighting and electronics companies around the world. The LEDs facilitate new general lighting applications in sectors like UV for industrial processing; digital displays and signage; industrial high-bay lighting; roadways; residential, entertainment, and architectural.

Luminus’ CTO and Founder, Alexei Erchak stated that the company is delighted to receive patent grants for the big-chip LED technology. He added that the company has over 100 additional patents still pending in the United States and other countries that would further expand their reach to these regions.
