GAO Fiber Optics Releases Compact Optical Time Domain Reflectometer

Provider of fiber-optic devices, GAO Fiber Optics has introduced a new portable optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) for telecommunication fiber, ISP, and CATV network applications.

3620 OTDR

The 3620 reflectometer is suitable for fault location and loss analysis in the maintenance, installation, and production of fiber optic equipment and networks.

The optical time domain reflectometer displays the loss distribution curves, fault point, connection point, and attenuation coefficient of the fiber. In addition, the OTDR displays the return loss, splice loss and the loss between two points. The optical device utilizes two markers to zoom in and out for curve information, while the ease of operation and compact size of the OTDR makes it suitable for outdoor or indoor testing.

The reflectometer locates and generates a fault point list, and provides a maximum of six diverse test result comparisons simultaneously. The OTDR exhibits a quick response time that enables the device to achieve a fiber measurement of 50 km at a high S/N ratio in 30 s. The sturdy design of the optical time domain reflectometer makes it ideal for the use in extreme environments.
