Schott Instruments Releases LED Cold Light Source

Schott Instruments has expanded the line of LED cold light sources with the addition of the KL 1500 LED plus solution. The new light device produces the same light output produced by 150 W halogen lamp, while consuming minimal energy of 80%.

The KL 1500 LED plus is directly controllable from a PC through a USB interface. The light source features a flash function; an electronic shutter; and a port to support a foot control switch. The brightness level of the KL 1500 LED plus can be fixed at two diverse increment values, namely, fine and coarse. The lighting device has an LCD display to show the operating mode and the brightness setting.

Schott Instruments utilize LEDs that emit neutral white light with 6000 K color temperature. The LED is 125 times more durable than a halogen light bulb, resulting in less downtime. In addition, the LED technology saves energy of about 80%, thereby reducing the operating costs. The light sources utilize the same fiber-optic interface utilized in halogen light sources. The fiber optic light guides require no replacement, while only the light source necessitates a replacement.
