AppliedMicro announced that it has rolled out new 100G optical network processors for IP-over-DWDM transport and Packet-Optical Transport System (P-OTS) markets.
The company’s 100G Optical Transport Network (OTN) products support P-OTS equipment, OTN cross connects, muxponders, and network interface transponders. The OTN products help network operators to extend Internet capacity to support the increasing demand for cloud computing traffic, social networking, and higher-bandwidth video applications.
The TPOT424 and TPOT414 are 100G transponders that are designed for metro/core OTN networks. The units are based on the SoftSilicon programmable technology, and provide integrated support for OTU4 (ITU-T) and 100GE (IEEE) interface standards. The TPOT424 and TPOT414 units interface directly to MSA-168 or CFP kind of optical modules for line cards, or for standalone transponder applications.
The 100G OTN product series provides an IP platform with sophisticated ASSP technology and SoftSilicon-based products, to offer telecom device makers with effective solutions that reduce technical risk. A combined software API for all the products in the series decreases maintenance and development time. The software API also provides a convenient migration path for cost-efficient, highly-integrated hardware solutions.
AppliedMicro TPACK A/S’ President, Colin Macnab stated that the SoftSilicon technology of TPOT424 and TPOT414 decreases the 100G adoption risk, and offers the capability for customers to add and alter functionality.
