Hoddesdon-based company, Juice Technology and Zeta Controls will receive a £900,000 government funding to develop a new energy-saving lighting system. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) have awarded the contracts to the companies.
Both companies were selected among the six companies that presented complete technical feasibility studies of new ideas for advanced lighting solutions. Later on, the concepts underwent technical assessment, while the proposals from the two companies were selected for the contract.
The government funding will allow the companies to analyze and develop demonstration units or prototypes, followed by a six-month field trial. Both companies will develop their respective prototypes and manufacture 50 full operational and tested demonstration units.
The two projects from Zeta Controls and Juice Technology are based on bulb replacements called the non-directional lighting sources. The Technology Strategy Board will conduct a six-month demonstration testing from next October after the development stage of the prototypes.
