Venezuela Air Force Selects Carmanah and ADB Lighting System

The collaboration between ADB Airfield Solutions and Carmanah Technologies has resulted in a contract order for a joint solar and AC-powered airfield lighting solution. The Venezuela Air Force has awarded the purchase order to upgrade the infrastructure of an unnamed base. Carmanah specializes in solar power systems and solar LED lights, while ADB specializes in the airfield lighting technology.

The airfield lighting system comprises Carmanah’s SATO blue taxiway lights and radio-controlled solar LED ADB SAWL runway edge lights integrated with an AC-powered ADB approach device. The new lighting system would  deliver significant cost savings because the solar portion of the lighting installation does not necessitate cabling or trenching. In addition, the airfield system will reduce maintenance costs. Iner Consultores, a partner of ADB and Carmanah, is coordinating with the Air Force to manage the installation and delivery of the lighting system.

Ted Lattimore, Chief Executive Officer of Carmanah, stated that Carmanah and ADB collaboration has created a number of projects such as the upgrade of the Venezuela Air Force airfield. He added that the joint solar and AC-powered solution provides the companies’ global distributor channel a comprehensive solution to meet the opportunities in the airfield lighting area.
