Occam Networks, provider of broadband access solutions, has introduced new GPON Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), the ON 2506 and the ON 2505, at the Broadband World Forum in Paris. Both ONTs are optimized for installation in small-to-medium businesses (SMB) and single family residences (SFRs), enabling service providers to support subscribers to manage video distribution and in-premise data networks.
The ON 2506 and the ON 2505 ONTs allow service providers to shift the service delivery point into the subscriber premise. The ONTs provide triple-play services with conventional video, data, and voice services such as HDTV.
The ONTs also support bandwidth-intensive applications like gaming and on-demand video with four Ethernet interfaces. They provide several choices for IP-based voice services with four or two voice port configurations. The ONTs deliver business class services such as QinQ and TLS.
The ON 2506 and the ON 2505 ONTs also offer service providers with operational expense advantages. They are completely controlled by Occam’s Optical Line Terminal and allow service providers to decrease the requirement for time-consuming and expensive truck rolls. Service providers can easily configure or upgrade the ONTs from the NOC or CO.
