CIG Delivered More Than One Million GPON ONTs in Last Two Years

Cambridge Industries Group (CIG) announced that it has offered more than 1 million GPON ONT units in the last two years. CIG provides Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) Optical Network Terminal (ONT) devices for OEMs.

The company’s ONTs are interoperable with almost all GPON Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) present in the industry. The ONTs are also cost-efficient because of CIG’s in-house technologies.

CIG’s Chairman, Dr. Gerald Wong stated that the company has developed a good reputation among telecom device providers because of its sophisticated manufacturing capabilities. The company provides a wide range of ONT solutions for the market with more than 30 GPON ONT variants in production. The customer base of the company incorporates almost all OLT vendors. The company has more than 500 employees with over 100 R&D engineers, Wong added.

ONTs are utilized by carriers to provide business and residential customers over a Passive Optical Networking (PON)-based system. Passive optical splitters are used in PON technology to link one optical fiber to numerous locations. The ONTs of CIG terminate the PON at business or home locations and allows integrated internet, video, and voice access.
