Energy-Saving Visible Fault Locator from GAO Fiber Optics

GAO Fiber Optics, a provider of fiber-optic test and measurement devices, has unveiled a new energy-saving, compact visible fault locator that is suitable for use in optical network deployments.

811 Visual Fault Locator

The 811 fault locator features a red laser diode that identifies faults in couplers, connectors, enclosures, patch panels, and fiber jumpers.

The fault locator differentiates the faults of distribution frames, jumper board, tie-ins, and fiber jumper. It overcomes the typical limitation of an OTDR’s dead zone to precisely identify fiber fault positions. The fault locator utilizes visible light to specify the fault location from a mechanical splice, problem coupler, break, or a macro bend point that is not properly aligned.
