Orwin’s Twin Station Laser Welding System Integrated with JK Laser

Orwin, a company specialized in industrial automation, has integrated a laser from JK Laser with its twin station laser welding system. The Orwin laser welding system has been designed to weld and assemble elements in a multicell battery.

Orwin designed and produced two welding stations that used the time share facility of the laser. The time share functionality accelerates the production processes, while minimizing cost. In addition, the time share function allows two welding processes to be performed on two individual cells, from one laser source.

The first station, in the application, automated the laser welding of inter-cell connectors that are manually loaded, thus joining the positive and negative poles of neighboring cells. The automation of laser welding of the cells’ lids was done at the second station.
