Automated Optical Fiber Cleaver from Vytran

Provider of optical fiber processing products, Vytran has unveiled a new LDC-400 automated optical fiber cleaver. The LDC-400 cleaves specialty and standard fibers for defense, research and aerospace, medical, sensing, fiber laser and telecommunications applications.

LDC-400 Large Diameter Fiber Cleaver

The optical fiber cleaver creates angled and flat cleaves on fibers in the range of 80 µ to 1.25 mm in diameter. The LDC-400 utilizes tension and scribe technology to generate consistent and accurate cleaves with quality finishes.

The LDC-400 can be configured to generate angle cleaves at a maximum of 15°. The optical fiber cleaver comprises special processes to cleave capillary tubing, polarization maintaining (PM) fibers or photonic crystal fiber. The cleaver has scribe conditions, rotation angle and programmable cleave tension. In addition, the LDC-400 is utilized to cleave numerous non-circular fibers that are utilized in fiber laser systems.

The full product lineup from Vytran comprises discrete process tools and fully integrated workstations for optical fiber testing, recoating, splicing, cleaving, cleaning and stripping.
