The MultiSync EX231W offers a 250 cd/m² brightness level and a 1920x1080 HD resolution. It has a dynamic contrast ratio of 25,000:1. The monitor typically consumes 31 W of power at normal mode and 16 W of power in the ECO Mode. The ambient light sensor in the MultiSync EX231W identifies external light sources and alters the brightness of the display accordingly. The carbon savings meter in the monitor measures the reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.

The widescreen LCD monitor also features a Dynamic Video Mode, Intelligent Power Management (IPM) system with an off timer, and touch-sensitive On Screen Display (OSD) controls. The LED-backlit LCD monitor complies with ENERGY STAR 5.0.
