Oregon-based hospital, Adventist Medical Center (AMC) has announced a new Lisa Laser surgical tool designed for obstetric and gynecology operations. The surgical tool is an attachment for the da Vinci robotic surgical system. The robot allows the completion of complex surgeries with a minimally invasive procedure.
AMC is the only healthcare provider at West Coast to utilize the Lisa Laser for the da Vinci surgical robot. The visualization offered by the Lisa Laser together with the robotic arm allows OBGYN surgeons to get rid of higher amount of endometriosis than conventional procedures. In addition, the surgical tool can be used to treat pelvic prolapse, irregular bleeding, infertility and hysterectomies.
The da Vinci surgical system offers surgeons various benefits, namely enhanced access, visualization and improved dexterity; increased range of motion; and greater precision. The da Vinci system offers patients a number of benefits such as better pain control, quicker recovery, less scarring, fewer transfusions, less blood loss, low risk of infection, less pain and shorter hospital stays.
The surgeon can use a wide range of surgical instruments placed on the robotic arms, such as the Lisa Laser, through a magnified view screen system and master hand controls.
