UDC, CNSE, MBT Collaborate for OLED Lighting Panel Production Line

Universal Display Corporation (UDC), CNSE University’s Smart System Technology & Commercialization Center (STC), and Moser Baer Technologies (MBT) have collaborated to open up a pilot manufacturing facility for OLED lighting panels at the Canandaigua location of STC. The facility will produce over 50 advanced jobs by 2012. The production line will also make resources to support eco-friendly and clean technologies in New York.

MBT will fund $11.5 million to purchase advanced equipment for the production facility. The new equipment will aid in deploying and developing OLED solid-state lighting technology. The technology reduces power consumption, improves energy efficiency, and is an eco-friendly replacement for conventional fluorescent and incandescent light bulbs.

A $4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy supports the project. The grant was awarded to UDC, a partner of MBT. UDC develops OLED technology for organic electronics, lighting and flat-panel display applications. UDC will show the scalability of its Universal PHOLED technology and devices for the production of white OLED lighting panels.
