Molex, a provider of interconnect solutions for telecommunication markets, announced that it has developed the Mini-LC Duplex Cables to function with the Mini-SFP transceiver of Avago Technologies.
The Mini-LC duplex cables are designed with a decreased ferrule pitch over regular LC duplex connectors, to allow high density installation of active units for every blade. The cables also enable cleaner cable-management solution, when combined with the Mini-SFP transceiver.
The new Mini-LC Duplex cables are available in standard sizes of 10, 5, 3, 2, and 1 m, and are suitable for networking and data communication applications. Molex provides fiber-optic breakout cables and custom lengths, if there is a need to perform transitions to Mini-SFP transceivers from MPO-based QSFP modules.
The cables use 50/125 µm OM3 fiber to achieve higher speeds and longer reach optimized at 1300 nm or 850 nm. They utilize a LC connector / RJ-45 latching style mechanism for convenient usage. The cables also comply with RoHS requirements.
Molex’s Program Manager, Eve Leal stated that the company’s Mini-LC cables would allow customers to provide high port densities on standard SFP interfaces, with higher bandwidth for each blade.
