Panasonic Tests 3D Imaging Camera at Ceatec 2010

Panasonic displayed its imaging solutions for displaying, storing, and recording 3D images and video, at Ceatec 2010. The company tested its 3D Lumix GH2 camera in a demonstration area at the event.

The Micro Four Thirds camera from Panasonic

The Panasonic 3D lens can be fitted to the Micro Four Thirds camera. The usage of the 3D lens necessitates high bright light for image capture, and the lens does not allow zoom functionality. Images captured in an exhibition hall with dim light produced minimal 3D effect, and induced blurring. To obtain optimum results, the company suggests the use of setup outdoors.

Panasonic had built a setting with high bright light and ample depth. The images taken in this demo area produced better results in 3D, even indoors. After the image capture, the 3D image is not produced on the flip-out display of the camera. To see the 3D effect of the images, the SD card should be taken out and inserted into a 3D TV. The 3D images can be viewed on the TV only when the user sports 3D glasses.
