PBN to Display Optical Communication Platforms at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2010

Pacific Broadband Networks (PBN), provider of optical broadband products, will display the latest products at the 2010 SCTE Cable-Tec Expo that will take place in New Orleans from 20 to 22 October, 2010. The company announced that it will showcase scalable platforms that offer a migration route from hybrid fiber/coax through to FTTH and RF over glass networks.

PBN will display the advanced optical communications mainframe (AOCM), the dense optical communications mainframe (DOCM) and the deep fiber optical distribution node (ODND) platforms at the Expo.

The AOCM is used for xPON and FTTx optical network architectures. PBN informed that the AOCM complies with ATCA standards. It provides scalable options in 12RU, 5RU and 2RU depending on the size of the project. The platform has more than 6000 subscribers for every 12RU chassis and is ideal for high-density deployments. The AOCM can readily migrate to 10 and 100 G networks. It offers gigabit bandwidth for each subscriber and is compatible with MSO back-office solutions.

The DOCM is ideal for RF over glass and hybrid fiber/coax optical network architectures. It complies with the SCTE-HMS standards, and is suitable for high-density installations with 60 QAM transmitters or 30 standard transmitters in a single 4RU chassis. The DOCM is equipped with an automatic channel modulation levelling and is available with a maximum of 60 return path receivers.

The ODND serves as a building block for high-performance networks. It provides scalability and adaptability and has a capability of 2x2 full segmentation. The platform also has an optional HMS capable transponder over the DOCSIS for remote management purposes.
