ROFIN-SINAR Acquires Laser Micro Processing Company, LASAG

ROFIN-SINAR Technologies announced that it has acquired a Switzerland-based company, LASAG AG, from THE SWATCH GROUP. ROFIN-SINAR has acquired all LASAG’s global operations from THE SWATCH GROUP. ROFIN-SINAR Technologies manufactures advanced laser beam sources for various applications. The acquisition will allow LASAG to progress in its laser manufacturing operations.

ROFIN-SINAR’s headquarters are based in Germany and Michigan. In addition, the company has production facilities in China, Singapore, Finland, Sweden, UK and the US.

LASAG specializes in developing and producing industrial solid-state lasers. The company distributes its laser solutions for scribing, drilling, spot welding and fine cutting applications in the aerospace, electronic, automotive and medical device industries. However, LASAG’s locations in USA and Switzerland will be retained as such.

THE SWATCH GROUP manufactures finished watches and specializes in nanoelectronic and nanomechanical technologies that are necessary for watchmaking industries.

ROFIN-SINAR Technologies’ President and Chief Executive Officer, Gunther Braun stated that this acquisition is significant for the company as it continues to expand its products and global customer base. Braun added that LASAG's solutions would complement the company’s laser system and will reinforce its position in the laser market.
