Crompton Lighting, a division of Gerard Lighting, has unveiled the energy-efficient XL LED Downlights in Australia. The lighting fixtures utilize 70% less energy and offer a 50,000 hr lamp life when compared to the 50W MR16 halogen lightings. Future Lighting Solutions, a LED solution specialist, offered engineering assistance such as selection of drivers and LEDs.
The XL LED downlights have the potential to be utilized for new deployments or be used as a retrofit for a family of MR16 halogen lighting fixtures. The downlights are registered under the Solid State Lighting Luminaire Quality Scheme of the Lighting Council of Australia for quality assurance and sustain the government’s endeavor to substantially lessen greenhouse gas emissions by gradually replacing incandescent lamps.
Philips Lumileds’ LUXEON Rebel LEDs allow the downlights to produce more than 530 lm of output with a 3000 K color temperature. The patent-pending design of Gerard Lighting auto-dims the light temperatures at more than 45°C and protects against overheating. The design also resists high temperatures to put up with the searing Australian weather.
Future Lighting Solutions offered engineering support, LED selection assistance such as supply chain management to assure availability of components, and recommending driver topologies to dim the LED light assembly.
