Provider of fiber-optic measurement and test devices, GAO Fiber Optics has unveiled a variable optical attenuator that is utilized as a passive unit to decrease the signal’s optical power, which propagates through optical fiber.
The A0610001 handheld optical attenuator is designed for maintenance and online testing of the fiber-optic systems and digital communication system units such as SDH or PHD.
The optical attenuator utilizes a neutral density filter to attain attenuation, which can be adjusted by rotating the keypad dial. It operates over a wavelength ranging from 1260 to 1650 nm, and shows attenuation values in dBm or dB. Calibrated wavelengths, such as 1625, 1550, 1490, and 1310 nm are also available.
The A0610001 optical attenuator regulates power at low insertion loss, high accuracy, and high linearity. It adjusts the optical signal’s amplitude to the required level, without changing the waveform. The attenuator has an auto-off function, and it provides an operational time of approximately 40 hrs in one charge.
