Polycom has unveiled the new SpectraLink 8400 range of handsets that provide barcoding capabilities for mobile workers in the hospitality, retail, industrial and health care industries.
Nurses and doctors can utilize the SpectraLink barcode reader to scan the prescription barcodes and transport the information to another unit over WiFi by using the Quick Barcode Connector.
Polycom informed that the SpectraLink 8400 handsets have a built-in barcode scanner. It also stated that the 8400 handset provides enterprise VOWiFi (voice over WiFi), which is used in mobile instruments such as laptops and smartphones. The Vice-President of Polycom, Ben Guderian stated that the barcode reader assures accuracy while transferring medical information and decreases errors by over 90%. Guderian added that the SpectraLink 8400’s WebKit-based browser supports applications, which enable users to make calls in control inventory in retail businesses, monitor devices in manufacturing facilities and medical plants.
