AFL, a provider of fiber-optic network solutions, has opened its second fiber-optic plant in the Hawksworth Trading Estate, Swindon, UK.
The new fiber-optic facility will support the European area with tailored fiber-optic interconnect cables that are utilized for communication applications. The company is expected to hire people for the new plant.
AFL Europe’s Managing Director, Paul Thompson stated that the location and infrastructure of Swindon allows efficient international distribution and easy transport. As communication applications that are rich in optical fiber continue to increase, the company will provide shorter lead times for its customers, Thompson added.
The Swindon plant of AFL develops and provides fiber-optic cable services and solutions all over Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. The plant manufactures the company’s MicroCore fiber cable that is used for FTTH applications, and the SkyWrap solution for wrapping the fiber-optic cable on the present power line.
